The Soulangh Artist Village (SAV) is situated in the Soulangh Cultural Park, Tainan. Former home to the Chia Li Sugar Factory, the company’s warehouses have since been remodeled into facilities for creative arts. Today, SAV houses five galleries; one indoor and one outdoor theatre; an area for reheasals; and an artist’s dorm (6 suites with attached bathrooms, a common living area and kitchen).

Who can apply?
Open to anyone. Admission by application and selection.
Application deadline:
Every Jan to February for three residency terms (May-June, Jul-Sept and Oct-Nov)

Residency length:
Two to three months
Residency expectations:
Residents are to present their work in the form of exhibitions, performances or workshops. The Resident Artist is to make arrangement with the center for costs of presentations and application for partial subsidy of such presentations. A progress report and a post residency report is also expected.
Support:
A grant of TWD 30,000 (approximately RM3,700) per month will be given to support the resident artist. This grant helps covers living, working and cost of local transportation. Facilities and dorm at the village is made available to resident artists. An amount not exceeding TWD 100,000 (approximately RM12,300) can be allocated to directly pay suppliers/resources to set up and execute the presentation, performance, or workshop.)

What the resident will be expected to arrange/pay for him/herself:
Airfare, visas, transportation of materials and additional living expenses.
Additional info:
The village houses up to five resident artists each residential term. The village does not allow additional person staying with the artist.
